Wycliffe Well to Barkly Homestead 16 August 2013

First stop today was the Devil's Marbles (Karlu Karlu), or should that be Karlu Karlu (Devil's Marbles)? I always have trouble with this political correctness/ethincal respect stuff. Just go with whichever you are the more comfortable with. Pretty spectacular place this. It makes the rocks in the hills between Lancefield and Tooborac look pretty tame!

See I told you it was bored teenagers doing the rock carvings!

On to Tennant Creek for fuel and a cold drink. I was going to refuel at Wycliffe Well but some torturous mental arithmetic on the way there yesterday almost convinced me we had enough to make Tennant Creek. Glad I did as the price for diesel was 20c a liter cheaper, and with the little yellow light of no confidence about to come on for the second time today (yep, working through the sub tank reserve at a great rate), that's a lot of 20cses.
There were some pretty fair sized fires off to the side of the road as we were nearing Tennant Creek. Not sure if it was a controlled burn or what, but it was pretty close to some farm buildings and we couldn't see any fireies or other people with hoses around. The birds of prey were having a field day circling overhead waiting for some poor frightened furry thing to run from the fires.

On the way out of TC we overtook a camper with a big sign on te back which said WOW in big letters, then expanded on the acronym underneath -
Widows on Walkabout. LOL

And that was it other than a long hot slog out to Barkly Homestead where the pool and the bar look equally inviting. I wonder which will win our affections?
Oh, and speaking of winning, the scores in Prado Spotto are now Len 85, Hazel 87. I'll have to try to fix that tomorrow :)
